Until We Meet Again New York

Goodbye NewYork: Till nosotros meet again

This past calendar week, when I was not busy packing and still answering a 100 emails, I took a walk from Grand Key (42nd ) all the way down to Chinatown. Information technology could have been a Counting Crows song.  I enjoyed the walk as I was wrapped upward tightly in scarves and a downward jacket. It was a very New York series of moments. As I walked for 45 minutes I thought about what I would miss most New York. Of form, my short respond is that I will miss everything. Yet, we all know that is non true.   I am not blinded by the New York Metropolis lights and can discern what are the bad parts to living here. That is not my focus these days, however. I am here to pay homageto my cute New York.

I will start off with a really personal thing.   I will miss my doc who has cared for me for over eight years.   He is considered a meridian doc in New York in certain circles.   To me he represents New York at its cadre. He is a young gay Asian doctor who doesn't judge. He listens and if he needs to "chastise" me he does so softly and with humor. Of course, I have perfect blood pressure level and such; thus his merely chastisement is about how many glutinous bears I eat in his office while waiting for him.   Wherever I am, I tin can electronic mail him my symptoms and he works with me to get me needed medications, even if I am in the middle of deep Louisiana. Even when he has been on vacation, he has pulled over to the side of the road to phone in a prescription on my behalf.  Yeah, he is quintessential New York to me.

I will miss the best assistant pudding in the globe.   There is a bakery called Buttercup Bakeshop; which e'er reminds me of the Princess Helpmate. I have to fight the urge to go and say "inconceivable".   If you are in New York, y'all must endeavour this pudding. Information technology is divine.

I will miss having admission to Broadway and its discount aforementioned-solar day tickets. Let's confront information technology. There is no other "Broadway" in the U.s.a..   It's unique and overly expensive. Thus, the ticket booths are just equally unique and crazy like NY. A discussion of advice, go your tickets through the South Street booth instead of Times Square for at that place are way shorter lines there and you get to see some other function of Manhattan.   Of course, with all my business travel and a child, I really have not been to see a Broadway show in a long time.

I volition miss being able to buy annihilation I demand in the moment on whatsoever street corner.   Say yous are caught in a last-minute rain shower. Well, just a few anxiety up ahead in that location will surely be someone selling $v umbrellas.   Need a pair of socks to go with that umbrella? Bank check out the corner across the street. Of course, there is as well the fact that any time of the day or night y'all can find an open up shop.   Sometimes you just demand to go out and get some mascara at 2am.

I will miss walking for miles on end and getting distracted by the shoe stores, pretty bars, fancy eateries and dives. Just London and Rome compare, in my optics.   Furthermore, the fact that you tin can walk everywhere and anywhere means you always have admission to a gratuitous gym.   Walking is one of the all-time exercises y'all can do and America could certain use more than of it. The dazzler of walking in New York is that when you lot get tired you can always merely hop a bus or subway to get back.

I will miss the Caribbean eateries.   I once went to a Puerto Rican eatery in San Francisco and all it did was made me long for New York.   There are Puerto Rican, Dominican and Cuban restaurants everywhere in New York. Where I can become my fill of mojitos, garlic and yellow rice. With that said, I will also miss being able to wing downwardly to the Caribbean more easily. Although, my love matter with Puerto Rico has been filled with lots of ups and downs. I take to say, I will too miss the relatively short-flights to Europe and the sheer number of direct flights to many places in the earth.  As someone who loves to travel, but hates the actual act of flight, this is key.

In that vein, I will miss random road trips to any possible number of states.   The e coast is filled with a lot of small-scale states to which i tin practise a day tip.   It is how I merely have four states left before I can claim having been in all 50.   The beauty is that you can drive, wing or take a railroad train up and downward the e coast rather easily.   I long for the day of high-speed rails, though.

At that place is much more to be said of New York.  At the end of the mean solar day, one's love of New York is personal.  For some, what they love is the ready access to countless bars and clubs.  For others, it is access to Museum Mile where all forms of arts from the globe tin be found.  Y'all make New York your own for in that location is something for everyone.

I grew up in New York. I have left it before several times and have made my way back. It's not actually goodbye New York. It's until we come across once more.
